Lisa Prefers ‘ROCKSTAR’ Despite Unresolved Plagiarism Allegations

On the 19th, Lisa hosted a live broadcast on her social media to interact with fans. During the session, she shared her thoughts on her new song “NEW WOMAN,” which she collaborated on with pop artist Rosalía on the 16th. Lisa expressed her happiness at the positive reception, saying, “I’m so glad everyone likes it. ‘NEW WOMAN’ feels like a dream. I had a song I liked, and I thought it would be fun to work with Rosalía, so I reached out. I’m so grateful that she agreed.”

Lisa continued, “While ‘NEW WOMAN’ is great, I love ‘ROCKSTAR’ the most. The beat is amazing. We filmed the MV in Thailand, and it was wonderful to be able to shoot there. We filmed the MV while I was busy with drama shooting schedules.”

She added, “I especially love the Chinatown scene. There was no one on the street, and with the rain creating reflections on the ground, it looked even cooler.”

Previously, Lisa had mentioned in an interview that the choreography for “ROCKSTAR” was the most challenging. She said, “There were moves where we had to lie down on the floor and spin, and we learned them right before the shoot, then went straight into hair and makeup. It was really difficult; my body didn’t cooperate. But it turned out so cool that it’s my favorite song.”

Lisa made her comeback with “ROCKSTAR,” the first release under her personal label, LLOUD Co., on June 28. The song, which Lisa wrote and composed herself, gained notable attention on international charts, including reaching 8th on the global Spotify chart in the U.S.

However, soon after, “ROCKSTAR” was embroiled in a plagiarism controversy. Last month, British music video director Gabriel Mores alleged on his personal account that Lisa’s team had contacted his editor for the project and used “FE!N” as a reference. Mores claimed that despite being told it was not permissible, Lisa’s team proceeded with it, raising plagiarism concerns about the “ROCKSTAR” music video.

The music video for Travis Scott’s “PAIN” features a scene where the camera swiftly moves past children with identical bowl haircuts and white outfits. Mores pointed out a similar scene in the “ROCKSTAR” video, where Lisa is surrounded by people with the same hairstyle and white head coverings. The plagiarism allegations have even been reported by local Thai media. Thai outlet Khaosod stated, “The ‘PAIN’ music video directed by Moses and ‘ROCKSTAR’ look like replicas.”

As of now, Lisa has not made any official statement regarding the allegations. Gabriel Mores has reportedly asked Lisa’s team to address the concerns by the end of this month.
