Lisa Includes Famous Places Of Thailand In “ROCKSTAR” MV: From Chinatown To Opera Theater

BLACKPINK member Lisa brought many familiar scenes of her home country Thailand into “ROCKSTAR” music video

On June 28th, Lisa made her grand solo comeback by releasing the music video “ROCKSTAR”. This is her first music release after setting up her private label “LLOUD” earlier in February this year. In particular, “ROCKSTAR” tells the stories of Lisa’s life, skills, and success.

For this comeback, Lisa decided to shoot the entire music video in Bangkok, Thailand to express her appreciation for the beauty of Thailand and Thai culture. Watching the MV, viewers will be able to find familiar scenes that they might have seen when traveling to Thailand.

Chinatown

Most of the scenes in “ROCKSTAR” were set in Chinatown (also known as Yaowarat in Thai), a center area of Bangkok. In order to shoot the MV in this busy area, Lisa paid 20,000 baht (around 750,000 won) to each merchant on the Yaowarat main street so that they could close their stores early.

Knowing that the Yaowarat area is crowded with visitors days and nights, Lisa also paid the merchants on other small streets nearby so that her MV filming process would not affect their business.

In addition, Lisa’s team also offered to bank 1000 baht (around 38,000 won) to any passerby who accidentally filmed the MV shooting process in order to keep the content secret. As such, Lisa must have paid a huge amount of money to complete her music video in Chinatown.

The Opera Theater

Another set that aroused interest from fans and netizens was the escalator at the abandoned Opera Theater, which is located on Phetchaburi Street. This theater was established in 2976 and closed in the early 2000s.

The theater is currently abandoned and the area in front of the escalator is being used for people doing massages, clubs, and adult businesses. According to some sources, people should pay 30,000 baht (around 1,130,000 won) to conduct shootings here.

Casting trans-models and trans-influencers for “ROCKSTAR” MV

Aside from hiring a team of 100 Thai dancers, Lisa also invited 3 special guests for her music video. One of them is the famous Thai beauty Bruze Kachi-Sarah, one of the candidates for Miss Tiffany’s Universe 2024. The winner of this beauty contest will represent the country to participate in Miss Trans Global 2024 to take place in Pattaya, Thailand.

The other two beauties are Aëffy and Chinnawat Promsri. The appearance of these three beauties in this MV in June, known as Pride Month, also shows Lisa’s respect for the LGBT community.

Thai traditional transportation – Tuktuk

Lastly, Lisa also showed the iconic transportation of Thailand in her MV, which is the Tuktuk. Despite the short screen time, the Tuktuks carrying big speakers in the background stood out and captured viewers’ attention at once. The motorbike scene was also impressive although it lasted for only a few seconds.

Seeing Lisa always trying to include Thai culture in all the music products she releases, fans once again feel proud of the female idol’s love for her home country, the place where “rockstar” Lisa was born.
