Lineup of OTT dramas to air in second half of 2023, from comedy action to thriller

OTT platforms Disney Plus, Netflix, TVing and Wavve have prepared new series for the second half of this year

Han River

Following the success of “Moving”, Disney Plus will release comedy action drama “Han River”, which tells about Han River police force getting caught up in a crime. Actors with excellent skills, such as Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Hee Won, and Bae Da Bin, appear in this work as members of the Han River police force. In addition, Lee Sang Yi will raise the tension of the drama by taking on the role of the villain who confronts the Han River police.

“Han River” is expected to provide new watching experiences by introducing several incidents that happen at the Han River, where citizens often visit to play sports and relax. With a total of six episodes, the drama will release two episodes every Wednesday starting from September 13th.

The Worst of Evil

Another Disney Plus series “The Worst of Evil” tells a story setting in the 1990s about Jun Mo (Ji Chang Wook) infiltrating a criminal organization to investigate a drug case and becoming entangled with Ki Cheol (Wi Ha Joon), the leader of the Gangnam Gang.

Directed by “When a Man Loves” director Han Dong Wook, the drama has 12 episodes and will premiere on September 27th.

Song of the Bandits

Set in 1920s, during the Japanese colonial era, Netflix’s “Song of the Bandits” is an action drama about Lee Yoon (Kim Nam Gil), Nam Hee Shin (Seohyun), Choi Chung Soo (Yoo Jae Myung), Lee Kwang Gil (Lee Hyun Wook) and Eon Nyeongi (Lee Ho Jung) trying to protect precious people of their homeland and their own lives.

Regarding the reason he selected this work, Kim Nam Gil shared, “It’s common to see stories about people trying to regain their country, but this story about people protecting people living around them is different”, adding “I wondered what synergy created by the combination of such a background.”

It will be released on September 22nd.

The Deal

Wavve’s original series “The Deal” is based on a webtoon of the same name. The story begins when old high shool classmates Lee Joon Sung (Yoo Seung Ho), Song Jae Hyo (Kim Dong Hwi), and Park Min Woo (Yoo Soo Bin) meet each other after a long time and have a drinking party. Later, Jae Hyo and Joon Sung pretend to kidnap Min Woo after receiving a phone call.

“The Deal” is known to be Yoo Seung Ho’s first OTT drama. It will premiere on October 6th.

A Bloody Lucky Day

Based on a popular Naver webtoon of the same name, “A Bloody Lucky Day” depicts the story that begins when ordinary taxi driver Oh Taek (Lee Sung Min), gives a drive to a customer (Yoo Yeon Seok), who offers a large amount of money, then realizes that he’s a serial killer and begins to drive in fear.

As Yoo Yeon Seok is taking on a murderer role, fans are looking forward to seeing his intense acting transformation. The drama will be unveiled on TVing this November.
