On May 30, Leeteuk took to Instagram to reveal that he had been rear-ended while driving his newly acquired Porsche Taycan GTS on the highway.
According to Leeteuk, he purchased the vehicle after his ambassador partnership with Porsche ended. The car had only been driven around 800 kilometers and had recently completed protective film work and filming-related activities.
“This was a brand-new car that I had for only two weeks,” he explained. “I hadn’t even removed all the plastic covering from the seats yet when a vehicle behind me crashed directly into my car on the highway.”
Describing the impact, Leeteuk wrote: “It felt like my entire body was being struck with a hammer.”

The accident reportedly caused severe damage to the rear of the vehicle, with repair costs estimated at nearly 14 million KRW (approximately $10,000 USD).
Beyond the vehicle damage, Leeteuk revealed that he has been experiencing significant neck and back pain following the collision.
“The shock was severe because it happened completely unexpectedly,” he shared. “I’m currently receiving physical therapy every day.”
The idol also explained that he is balancing recovery while maintaining a packed schedule that includes preparations for Super Junior’s upcoming album, tour activities, television recordings, and caring for his pet dog.
Leeteuk added that he has been handling the accident-related paperwork and communications personally without assistance from his agency, making the situation even more challenging.

The singer admitted that the car has brought him a string of unfortunate experiences since its arrival.
He previously revealed that his beloved dog, Koongi, had been diagnosed with heart disease and pulmonary edema.
Reflecting on recent events, Leeteuk said: “The car took a long time to arrive because of an ordering issue. As soon as it arrived, Koongi became sick, and then this accident happened. It feels like this car and I just aren’t meant to be.”
He went on to say that he is considering selling the vehicle immediately after repairs are completed, even if doing so results in a significant financial loss.
This is not the first time Leeteuk has experienced a frightening traffic accident.
In 2007, Leeteuk, along with fellow Super Junior members Kyuhyun, Shindong, and Eunhyuk, was involved in a devastating vehicle rollover accident on Seoul’s Olympic-daero after completing a radio schedule.

The crash left several members seriously injured, with Kyuhyun reportedly fighting for his life at the time. Their vehicle was completely destroyed.
Years later, in 2011, Leeteuk and fellow Super Junior member Kim Heechul were involved in a seven-car collision in Singapore after a vehicle carrying fans crashed into their van, triggering a chain-reaction accident.
At the time, Leeteuk expressed his shock through social media, writing that the group had nearly lost their lives in the incident.
Following his latest update, fans flooded social media with messages wishing Leeteuk a speedy recovery and expressing relief that the accident did not result in more serious injuries.
As the Super Junior leader continues preparing for upcoming activities while undergoing treatment, supporters are hoping he can make a full recovery and return to his schedule in good health.
