Lee Young-ji Announces ‘No Prepare’ Comeback Amid Controversy Over Stars’ Drunk Driving Issues

Amid recent controversies over drinking-related incidents, rapper Lee Young-ji announced the comeback of her drinking show

On August 8th, Lee Young-ji posted on her personal SNS account, saying “‘No Prepare’ is back. Let’s set the table and drink”.

“No Prepare” is a web entertainment program in which Lee Young-ji has private conversations with celebrities while drinking alcohol. The show has featured various celebrities, including Park Bo-young, Kim Hyang-gi, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, Jay Park, aespa’s Karina, etc. As the stars showcased different charms while talking with Lee Young-ji, the show also gained huge love from the public.

After announcing its comeback with Season 3, “No Prepare” also raised fans’ expectations by introducing BLACKPINK’s Lisa as the first guest.

However, some people also expressed concerns. As many idols and celebrities appear on the drinking show, there are worries that it could have a negative influence on underage viewers. Netizens commented, “It’s not good for students to watch”, “Wouldn’t it be better to have celebrities drink soda or tea instead of alcohol while talking?”, “Drinking shows are too harmful”, etc.

In fact, unpleasant incidents related to drinking have been occurring very frequently in the entertainment industry. On August 7th, the police booked BTS’s Suga on charges of riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol. According to the Road Traffic Act, driving a scooter while drunk with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% ~ 0.2% can result in imprisonment for 1-2 years or a fine of 5 million ~ 10 million won. In particular, Suga’s blood alcohol concentration reached the level of license revocation.

Kim Ho-joong was also put on trial for drunk driving. After crashing into a taxi coming from the opposite side, he not only tried to change the driver but also drank more alcohol, making it difficult to determine his exact blood alcohol concentration.

As public criticism over drunk driving incidents of celebrities is intensifying, some are complaining about the excessive production of drinking content.
