On September 8, Lee Young-ae appeared on the YouTube talk show Zzanbro alongside fellow actors Kim Young-kwang and Park Yong-woo to promote their upcoming KBS weekend drama Walking on Thin Ice.
During the conversation, host Jung Ho-chul mentioned that Lee Young-ae’s daughter was known to have an artistic side. The actress then revealed that her 15-year-old daughter has been auditioning for idol groups, saying: “My daughter is very interested in idols right now and keeps going to auditions. I’m just letting her try. If I stop her, later she might say, ‘I couldn’t do it because of mom.’”

Comedian Shin Dong-yeop chimed in, suggesting her daughter’s dream may have been influenced by Lee Young-ae herself: “Maybe because mom was an ARMY (BTS fan), she grew up watching that world.”
Lee Young-ae laughed, admitting that her daughter is indeed a fan of TXT (Tomorrow X Together) and that she even took her to see BOYNEXTDOOR’s concert recently.
Still, the actress expressed concern about her daughter’s perception of the entertainment industry: “I’m worried because she seems to think it’s too easy. When she looks at me, she only sees the glamorous side. She doesn’t see the struggles behind it. She doesn’t realize how hard I worked to get here, so I’m afraid she might underestimate it.”
Lee Young-ae, best known globally for her iconic role in Jewel in the Palace, rarely discusses her private life. Her candid remarks highlight both the allure and the harsh realities of the entertainment world — especially for the next generation dreaming of stardom.
