Actor Lee Yi Kyung has taken firm legal action in response to recent false rumors surrounding his private life. On November 3, his agency Sangyoung ENT released an official statement expressing deep regret over the spread of defamatory content online.
The agency revealed that they had filed a legal complaint with the Gangnam Police Station through their legal representatives, targeting the original author and distributors of the false content. “The charges include spreading false information and defamation,” the agency stated. “There has been no attempt at settlement or discussion of compensation, and we will not consider any in the future.”
Sangyoung ENT made it clear that they would continue to monitor malicious posts and defamatory content aimed at their artist, warning, “We will take strong legal action without leniency.”
The statement continued, “We fully recognize that we are living in a time where individuals must protect themselves from manipulated and distorted information. We will do our utmost to prevent harm from baseless rumors and to protect the rights and reputation of our artist.”
The controversy erupted on October 20 when a blog post titled “Exposing the True Side of Lee Yi Kyung” was uploaded to an online community. The post included screenshots of alleged sexually explicit messages claimed to have been exchanged with the actor.
The agency immediately responded by denying the claims as “completely untrue” and announced legal action. Shortly after, the post’s author admitted that it started as a joke and that the screenshots were AI-generated, effectively bringing the situation to a close.
Nevertheless, Lee Yi Kyung and his team are not backing down, choosing to proceed with legal consequences to prevent further damage and discourage similar incidents.
