According to an exclusive report from OSEN on October 16, Lee Sung Min has received an offer to play the character Lee Kang Hee in the new series Insiders, which is currently being discussed for broadcast on JTBC. The role, originally portrayed by veteran actor Baek Yoon Sik in the 2015 film adaptation, was set to be played by Song Kang Ho. However, Song ultimately stepped down from the project due to scheduling conflicts with his next project.
Sources revealed that Lee Sung Min had been in contact with the production team regarding a different character but was later offered the role of Lee Kang Hee after Song’s departure. Discussions are now in progress, and his agency has stated that he is reviewing the offer positively.

In addition, actor Koo Kyo Hwan reportedly declined an offer to appear in the drama. He was approached to play Ahn Sang Goo, the political gangster character famously portrayed by Lee Byung Hun in the film.
The drama Insiders is based on the unfinished webtoon by writer Yoon Tae Ho, which inspired the 2015 hit film Inside Men that drew over 7 million viewers. A decade later, the story is being reimagined for television. Initially planned as a two-season project, the series will now be produced as a single 12-episode season, with the casting lineup undergoing major changes.

Set against the political and social backdrop of the 1980s and 1990s, Insiders will delve into the intertwined stories of power, corruption, and ambition. The drama will be directed by Mo Wan Il, known for Misty and The World of the Married, while the screenplay will be penned by Lee Ki Chul, who wrote The Thieves, Assassination, and Escape from Mogadishu. The production will once again be handled by Hive Media Corp, the studio behind the original film.
