Lee Sun-kyun’s Posthumous Work “Project Silence” Assembles Top-Tier Domestic Production Team

A multitude of top-tier Korean film production staff, who have been behind numerous masterpieces in Korean cinema, joined forces for the movie "Project Silence"

“Project Silence” is a disaster movie that tells about people who are isolated on the airport bridge just before collapse in an indistinguishable thick fog, struggling to survive the unexpected threats lurking in it. The film features Lee Sun-kyun, Ju Ji-hoon and Kim Hee-won. Leading figures in the Korean film industry united for this project.

Directed and written by Kim Tae-gon of “Familyhood”, “Project Silence” is produced by Kim Yong-hwa, known for the “Along with the Gods” series, who has consistently delivered universally relatable messages and high-quality technical skills. This collaboration promises the birth of a unique disaster film where familiar spaces and creatures become sources of terror.

Hong Kyung-pyo, the cinematographer behind “Deliver Us from Evil”, “Parasite”, “Burning”, “The Wailing” and “Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War”, shot 90% of the film using handheld techniques to dynamically capture the intense disaster scenes. He also used delicate lighting changes to realistically and dramatically portray the isolated disaster scene in the dense fog. Writer Park Joo-suk, known for his exceptional skills in “Train to Busan” and “Hwayi: A Monster Boy”, co-wrote the screenplay, vividly depicting a variety of human figures in extreme situations.

Dexter Studios, the leading VFX company behind the “Along with the Gods” series and “Space Sweepers”, used state-of-the-art CGI technology to bring to life the helicopter crash, bridge collapse and the military experiment dogs, creating a vivid and tense atmosphere.

Martial arts director Lee Gun-moon, who showcased the pinnacle of stylish action in “Deliver Us from Evil”, oversaw the movements of the military experiment dogs, equipped with immense speed and power. He seamlessly integrated the actors’ actions with the CGI dogs. Art director Han Ah-reum, recognized for her unique mise-en-scène in “Kill Bok Soon”, “Kingmaker”, “1987: When the Day Comes”, “The Merciless” and winner of the Best Art Direction award at the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards, created the largest bridge set in Korea to realistically depict the disaster scene, drawing audiences into the heart of the collapsing airport bridge.

The disaster survival thriller film “Project Silence” will be released in theaters nationwide on July 12th.
