He was also active on the big screen. Starting with the Japanese film Kisarazu Cat’s Eye: World Series, he expanded his filmography across genres with roles in Secretly Greatly and Mephisto.

Last year, Lee Sang Bo signed an exclusive contract with a new agency, signaling a fresh start in his career. As he was reviewing potential projects and preparing for a comeback, the sudden news of his passing has deepened the sense of loss.

Previously, Lee Sang Bo was embroiled in allegations of drug use in 2022. However, it was later clarified that the incident stemmed from prescribed medication for depression. Police concluded there was no evidence of illegal drug use and decided not to forward the case, closing it without charges. Despite the unfair situation at the time, he did not give up on acting and returned to the screen, earning support from audiences.

At the time, Lee Sang-bo shared that he had been living alone and suffering from depression after losing his parents and older sister in an accident in 2009.

He previously explained, “I have no family to spend holidays with. I try to get used to it, but it hasn’t gotten any easier over the years. Especially during difficult and lonely times like this year, the absence of my family feels even greater. That day, I couldn’t control my emotions even with the medication I had been taking for a long time, so I had a drink, which seems to have triggered the unfortunate incident.”
