Actor Lee Min-ho and actress Kim Min-ha, who starred in season 2 of the Apple TV+ series “Pachinko,” had an interview with Xsports News at Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong, Seoul on the afternoon of August 23rd.
Pachinko is a story that begins with forbidden love and depicts an unforgettable chronicle of war, peace, love and separation, victory and judgment between Korea, Japan, and the United States.
In this season 2, starting with Osaka in 1945, the stories of characters living in a situation where the threat of World War II is on the verge of being revealed, and the work depicts Japan and Korea in 1945.
Kim Min-ha plays a young Seon-ja who struggles to raise her two children, and Lee Min-ho plays Han-su, who has become more wealthy.
Actor Kim Min-ha, born in 1995, played a mother with actor Kang Tae-joo as her son, and Lee Min-ho also made an older appearance using the power of makeup and dialogue.
Kim Min-ha said, “If I said it wasn’t hard for me, I’d be lying. I thought a lot about it. Seon-ja must have experienced a lot of things coming to season 2. Since it starts seven years after season 1, I have worked a lot on drawing the life of the character. The child has grown a lot and grown a lot. I tried to draw this part as well.”
Kim Min-ha, who also received a lot of help from makeup and costumes, said, “Interestingly, there were parts where I naturally became the character when I wear the clothes. I tried to express a lot of inertia and inner side.”
Lee Min-ho said, “Han-su ended up as a fish seller in season 1, but he became an arms dealer after a seven-year hiatus. I thought a lot about how he went up so fiercely in the process and how much dirt he got on his hands in the process.”
Seon-ja and Han-su have more complex relationships and emotions following season 1. “I think the relationship between Seon-ja and Han-su in season 2 is getting more mature and deeper as time goes by,” Kim Min-ha said. “I think the young love between Seon-ja and Han-su ended in the first season. Anyway, they are both parents now. They have a son called Noah. The conversation between the two has changed a lot, and the relationship has become deeper and inexplicable, which is the key to watch.”
Kim Min-ha said, “Seon-ja and Han-su became parents and talked to each other like old friends at the end. The scene was very emotional and nice. I loved it. It rained at that time, and I received a big and subtle force that day. I felt this is how it works.”
Meanwhile, “Pachinko 2” will be released every Friday with a total of eight episodes, starting with the release of episode 1 on August 23rd.
