Former Lovelyz member and popular entertainer Lee Mi-joo is taking the high road—literally and figuratively—after facing backlash for purchasing a luxury Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, worth up to ₩300 million KRW (~$230,000 USD).

In a new video uploaded to her YouTube channel Just Mi-joo on August 8, the star addressed the controversy with humor and grace.

“Wow, it’s only been four days and the video already has over 300,000 views,” she said with a big smile. “Thank you so much for watching.”

Mi-joo went on to reveal that she reads the comments herself, including the hate. She then read one aloud, “This just proves how dumb she is. With that money, you could get a Santa Fe or a Palisade and still have tons left over.”

To that, she laughed and pointed out a sarcastic reply under the comment, “Can you even afford a Palisade?”

Fans applauded her down-to-earth reaction, with Mi-joo teasing that she might do a “reading hate comments” video next.

Mi-joo originally revealed her new G-Wagen in a video posted August 1, where she shared that she reserved the car before getting her driver’s license, “I was too lazy to get my license, but once I bought the car, I figured I had no choice,” she confessed.

She also admitted that she didn’t know much about cars— “People told me it looked nice, and I’m the kind of person who gets swayed easily,” she laughed.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, known for its powerful performance and high-end design, has become a symbol of status in South Korea. Its hefty price tag has drawn both admiration and criticism from netizens.

Mi-joo, who debuted with Lovelyz in 2014 and found renewed fame through variety shows like Hangout with Yoo, has carved out a space for herself with her honest, unfiltered charm.

Through her growing YouTube presence, Mi-joo continues to connect with fans—haters included—with her trademark boldness and wit.
