On April 7, production stills from “Gold Land” were unveiled ahead of its premiere, revealing Lee Kwang Soo in a completely unrecognizable form. His character features facial scars, tattoos, sharp expressions, and heavy gold accessories, creating a chilling and intimidating presence that contrasts sharply with his usual on-screen image.

The series follows the story of Hee-joo, played by Park Bo-young, who comes into possession of gold bars worth 150 billion won hidden by a smuggling ring. What unfolds is a survival thriller filled with betrayal, greed, and intense psychological battles as various characters fight to claim the treasure.

Lee Kwang Soo takes on the role of “Director Park,” a relentless figure chasing after the missing gold. As the story progresses, his character becomes increasingly consumed by ambition and desire, spiraling into extremes and driving the tension of the narrative.

The actor himself revealed the extent of his commitment to the role, stating, “I was made up to the point where people might not even recognize me. As the story progresses, I wanted to express the character’s growing greed and ambition through his changing appearance.”

Director Kim Sung-hoon also praised Lee’s transformation, emphasizing his intention to showcase a completely new side of the actor. “We wanted to bring out a different face of Lee Kwang Soo, portraying a man losing control as he is consumed by desire,” he explained.

Set to premiere on April 29, “Gold Land” will release two episodes weekly for a total of 10 episodes, promising viewers a gripping and visually striking thriller.
