As tvN’s weekend drama Typhoon Family continues to ride high, breaking through a 9.0% national average rating and peaking at 9.8% in episode 4 (according to Nielsen Korea), excitement is growing for what’s to come especially following the teaser for episode 5, where Lee Jae-kyoon’s commanding presence immediately stood out.
Set during the 1997 IMF crisis, Typhoon Family follows the chaotic rise of rookie business man Kang Taepoong, who’s left to run a struggling trade business with no employees, no money, and nothing to sell.

In the preview, Lee Jae-kyoon captivates instantly with his gruff dialect and piercing gaze. His appearance hints at deep tension, especially when Yoon Cheol (played by Jin Seon-kyu) is confronted and Jeong Charan (Kim Hye-eun) remarks, “Did you even use up your gang’s money?”
A cryptic line “You’re scared of something too, aren’t you?” delivered in a chilling tone by Lee Jae-kyoon’s character, suggests that his role may stir up a whole new storm within Typhoon Family.

Known for his versatility, Lee recently impressed audiences in ENA’s Salon de Holmes and tvN’s short drama Hwaja’s Scarlet, proving his ability to fully transform into every role. He continues this momentum with Typhoon Family, further solidifying his reputation as a chameleon-like actor.
On top of his TV success, Lee Jae-kyoon was also announced as part of the 10th anniversary cast of the acclaimed play Elephant Song, showing his commitment to both screen and stage.
You can catch Lee Jae-kyoon and the rest of the cast in Typhoon Family every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 PM KST on tvN.
