At the press conference for Coupang Play’s variety program Just Makeup, held at Pullman Ambassador Seoul Eastpole on October 1, Lee Hyori shared, “It’s been more than five years since I last stood in front of reporters. It brings back old memories and feels good.”
She continued, “I usually do variety shows without a script, so hosting a survival program strictly following a script wasn’t easy. I can grasp the flow well, but giving precise commentary and hitting the right points was a challenge.”

Hyori explained why she wanted to take on the role: “Makeup has always been a field close to me, almost like a friend, so I had a lot of interest in it. That’s why I even suggested being the MC myself. Since I had a continued connection with the production team through Hyori’s Homestay, I was able to bring it up.”
Reflecting on her experience, she said, “Living as a celebrity always receiving makeup, seeing the competition from a different perspective made me emotional. It gave me a deeper sense of gratitude. Personally, I had a really fun time.”
Just Makeup is a large-scale survival program where top makeup artists from Korea and beyond compete fiercely, showcasing their unique styles to represent K-beauty on the global stage. Lee Hyori serves as host, with Jung Saem Mool, Seo Ok, Risabae, and Lee Jin Soo as judges. The show will premiere on October 3.
