On March 25, Lee Hye Young uploaded a short video on her personal social media account, accompanied by a smiling emoji and the caption, “Thank you for the joyful moments.” The clip showed her drawing playful markings on her dog’s face. The dog appeared with eyeliner, blush applied to its nose, and marks resembling scars.
After the video was shared, many netizens strongly criticized the actress. Comments included: “Isn’t this animal abuse?”, “What did you do to your dog? Do you think this is normal?”, “Abuse isn’t only about physical harm,” and “Are you treating your dog like a toy?” Others expressed concern about whether the cosmetics used could be harmful to animals.

Following the intense backlash, Lee Hye Young deleted the post without offering any explanation. A day later, she uploaded a new photo showing herself sitting beside her dog, now with a clean and natural face, seemingly in an attempt to calm public opinion.
Born in 1971 in Incheon, Lee Hye Young is a familiar face to Korean audiences, particularly for her role as “Crow” in the drama The Boss. In the series, she portrayed a strong, sharp-tongued character with a quiet yet deep affection for Choon Sam, played by Cha In Pyo, despite his heart belonging to someone else. She later gained attention through various dramas such as Goodbye My Love, Save the Last Dance for Me, Dal-ja’s Spring, Kimchi Cheese Smile, Queen of Housewives, and My Husband Got a Family.

Beyond acting, Lee Hye Young is also a successful businesswoman. In 2004, she launched her own fashion company specializing in clothing and lingerie under the brand “Miss Dorothy.” The brand expanded into major shopping centers across South Korea and reportedly reached revenues exceeding $40 million at its peak.
Lee Hye Young was previously married to Lee Sang Min, a former member of the group Roo’ra, in 2004, but the couple divorced the following year. She remarried in 2011 to Bu Ji Hoon, Vice Chairman of MBK Partners, and the couple has two daughters.
