According to OSEN on March 6, Jung Yu Mi recently received a casting offer for Netflix’s new project Love Affair and decided to appear in the drama. Lee Dong Wook had already confirmed his participation earlier, and with Jung Yu Mi joining, the key male and female lead lineup has been completed.

Regarding this, Jung Yu Mi’s agency Noon Company stated, “Jung Yu Mi received the script proposal for Love Affair and is currently reviewing it.”

Lee Dong Wook will play Kim Ji Hoon, the male protagonist in his early 40s. He falls into a passionate love with a woman other than his wife, causing his once happy family to head toward destruction. Jung Yu Mi will portray Ji Hoon’s wife, who experiences confusion after discovering her husband’s affair despite their previously happy marriage.

Earlier this year, Jung Yu Mi parted ways with Management SOOP after nine years and signed an exclusive contract with her new agency Noon Company. Love Affair is expected to be her first project since the move, and it will also mark the first time Jung Yu Mi and Lee Dong Wook act together.

In particular, Love Affair is the new work of director Mo Wan Il, who directed the drama The World of the Married, which aired in 2020 and recorded a peak rating of 28.4%. After finishing the Netflix series The Frog (2024), he had been preparing the series Insiders, but stepped away due to various circumstances, unintentionally leading to a long gap in his directing work. Love Affair centers on a couple who had stable jobs and a happy marriage, but whose lives collapse due to a fatal love that suddenly appears like a traffic accident.

Following director Mo Wan Il’s representative works Misty (2018) and The World of the Married (2020), attention is focusing on how he will portray the intense emotions between spouses and extramarital relationships.

There are also comments that the drama shares some similar settings with the mega-hit The World of the Married, but it is said that the level of expression and the storyline will be even more daring.

Meanwhile, Love Affair is expected to begin filming in the first half of this year, and it is also reported that there will be overseas location shooting in Spain. The script is written by Ha Soo Jin of the KBS2 drama The Matchmakers, production will be handled by FNC Story, and the series will be released globally on Netflix.
