Actor Lee Dong-gun mentioned the unpleasant nickname “King Euija of the entertainment industry”
SBS’s “My Little Old Boy” broadcast on November 5th was about Lee Dong-gun, who joined the cast as the new son. On the broadcast, the production team released their preliminary meeting with the actor.
During the pre-meeting, the production team carefully asked Lee Dong-gun if he had been dating anyone. In response, the actor drew attention as he said, “I already gave up. I gave up on things like dating”.
He continued, “I’m aware of my image in the eye of the public”, adding “(The reason I gave up dating is that) I know how people see me with prejudiced eyes”.
Expressing unfairness, the actor shared, “Isn’t my nickname ‘King Euija of the entertainment industry’? When someone has a scandal, they always put my face in videos on YouTube. But saying ‘Lee Dong-gun is King Euija of the entertainment industry’ like this is a little…” He honestly said, “Learning about the nickname, I was very angry at first. I wondered, ‘Why do they talk about me like that?’”, adding “I know very well that people have prejudices for me so I don’t date anymore.”
In addition, Lee Dong-gun also mentioned his daughter Roa.
Lee Dong-gun said, “Around next year, Roa will have her own phone and she can search for her dad’s name. Thinking of that, I feel sorry for Roa”, adding “If Roa sees my name with articles (about the nickname), it will be very embarrassing and I feel sorry for her.”
He firmly emphasized, “There won’t be such things, whether it’s dating or public dating.”
Earlier, Lee Dong-gun married fellow actress Jo Yoon-hee in 2017. The two have a daughter named Roa. However, their marriage didn’t last long. In May 2020, the two announced their divorce after three years of marriage.
