Lee Byung Hun reveals when BH actors treated him as an absent person at the workshop he organized

Actor Lee Byung Hun revealed an anecdote about the workshop he organized for BH Entertainment actors and staff.

Lee Byung Hun guested on episode 206 of tvN’s entertainment program “You Quiz on the Block”, which aired on August 9th.

On the show, Yoo Jae Suk mentioned when Lee Byung Hun made headlines as he paid all the expenses to organize a workshop for his company. At that time, the actor drew admiration when he planned a ‘4 days 3 nights’ overseas company workshop. In this regard, Lee Byung Hun said, “That’s the result, but there’s a long history before that”, raising viewers’ curiosity about the unreleased behind stories.

Recalling the past, Lee Byung Hun said, “CEO Son Seok Woo and I established the company 17 years ago. We started as a small company and had many dreams. I remember telling him, ‘Later, when our company has more actors and staff, I hope we can do company workshops and do many activities together’. Everything we talked about was like a dream in a far future.”

He continued, “One day, the CEO said, ‘Hyung, I think we can really go on a workshop this time’, so I said, ‘That’s a very good idea’. We had a year-end gathering at the end of last year. While CEO Son Seok Woo was giving his closing speech, he suddenly announced ‘BH Overseas Workshop’. I grabbed the microphone because I felt like saying something. Then I said, ‘I’ll do my best to cover the expenses for you all’. What should I do? I had to keep that promise”.

In fact, Lee Byung Hun had to pay for 70 people who participated in that workshop. Still, he confessed, “I had such a happy time”, adding “I felt very proud and happy to share the moments that I had only talked about as if it were a dream 17 years ago with the staff and the actors”.

Hearing that, Yoo Jae Suk said, “But there must have been expenses that were suddenly added, right? Did anyone order more drinks?”. Lee Byung Hun responded, “After playing on the beach, the actresses decided to get massages together and I would react, ‘Why did you get massages all the time?’. When the actors asked for more drinks, I would tell them, ‘Hey, don’t drink too much’. I was really exhausted after taking care of everyone for the whole day”.

Yoo Jae Suk also mentioned the story of when Lee Byung Hun sang “My Way” at the workshop. He said, “Isn’t this song usually sung by CEOs who are about to retire?”, then asked for the reason Lee Byung Hun picked it to sing. In response, Lee Byung Hun said, “When everyone was singing, I thought, ‘Wow, that’s how young people these days enjoy parties’. I was only laughing and clapping my hands but they suddenly passed the mic to me. All I could think at that time was ‘My Way’.”

He continued, “They heated up the atmosphere but I shot the mood like putting off the fire at once. After that, they treated me as if I weren’t there. They didn’t even bother me, so I thought to myself, ‘It’s fine’. When I was singing, why didn’t they tell me to stop? They could just go to the bathroom or do something else during that time. So I thought, ‘They still needed me’”, drawing laughter.
