In a recent episode of “You Quiz on the Block”, Lee Byung Hun showcased his famous wit and drew attention.
On the August 9th episode of the tvN variety show “You Quiz on the Block“, actor Lee Byung Hun made headlines with his appearance.
In particular, when the MCs said that they heard about him being funnier in person, Lee Byung Hun brought laughter by saying, “To be honest, I was worried about what to talk about here. I wanted to remain mysterious as an actor. Lately, I have too many memes.”
Then, to Yoo Jae Suk’s question of, “Didn’t you originally dream of becoming an actor”, Lee Byung Hun responded, “I’ve never dreamed of becoming an actor at all”, adding, “I didn’t have any life plans or future hopes that would make my friends jealous. So, I thought, ‘What could I do to look cool?'”
According to Lee Byung Hun, his venture into acting was influenced by his mother’s acquaintance.
“At the time, when I was resting at home after submitting my application for enlistment, my mother’s friend brought in an application form for KBS”, Lee Byung Hun explained before continuing, “Since I couldn’t stand in front of people, I refused. But my mother said, ‘You’re always just playing around. Who think you are going to be an actor? Just experience it.’ So, I thought, ‘Alright, let’s try it for fun,’ and that’s how I became (an actor).”
Afterwards, Yoo Jae Suk recalled Lee Byung Hun’s transition from TV to movies, and mentioned that the initial results weren’t good. Replying to this, Lee Byung Hun confessed that at the time, there was a superstition that actors who have 3 failed movies in a row would no longer be casted as a lead, and a senior even told him that he will have to stick to TV.
“However, my fourth movie also failed. It was strange that I even got a fourth movie. Luckily, my 5th movie, ‘The Harmonium in My Memory’, was a success”, Lee Byung Hun further said.
Later on, as the MCs discuss Lee Byung Hun’s representative works, they asked the actor about his feeling when praised as the “God of Acting”. Hearing this, Lee Byung Hun honestly replied, “It feels nice to receive that compliment, no matter how many times I hear it”. Then, at Yoo Jae Suk’s jestful request, “Please call him ‘God of Acting’ a lot when you meet Lee Byung Hun,” the actor added, “But don’t call me that soullessly.”
