LE SSERAFIM Mocked For Mentioning IU, Lee Hyo-ri, Uhm Jung-hwa In New Song’s Lyrics

On August 30, a post was made on the popular Korean online community Nate Pann with the title, “LE SSERAFIM’s Lyrics Is So Shame-play.”

“Shame-play” is a Korean slang that refers to the act of creating or forcing a situation that can shame a specific person. In particular, the post includes a screenshot of the lyrics of LE SSERAFIM’s new song “Pierrot,” which points out the unnecessary mentioning of veteran singers such as IU and Lee Hyo-ri in the line “IU and Lee Hyo-ri, who’s next?”

The post became viral with 119,784 views and countless comments. Many comments agree that the lyrics are too awkward, while others point out that other singers such as Kim Wan-sun and Uhm Jung-hwa are also mentioned in the first verse of the song, in particularly the line “Kim Wan-sun and Uhm Jung-hwa, who’s next?”

Some of the comments are as follows:

“I’m sure it was embarrassing for them to sing, too”

“The first verse also mentions Kim Wan-sun and Um Jung-hwa lol Are you just doing it to go with the theme?”

“The lyrics is one thing, but their achievement for this comeback is too bad… While NewJeans aespa IVE are ranked 1st and 2nd every time despite a lot of competition, LE SSERAFIM is not in the top 50 even though the chart is like an empty battleground? Were you very busy with manipulating all the time? How can the ranking come out like that? LOL”

“Ugh…. Who wrote the lyrics;;”

“Why didn’t you sing Taylor Rihanna instead… No, just don’t sing such lyrics”

“It’s a different level, isn’t it too rude…”

“Kim Wan-sun and Uhm Jung-hwa part is more shocking. LOL No, they’re not even on that generation, they grew up watching Kim Wan-sun and Uhm Jung-hwa. Are you adjusting to that generation because you only have old man as fans? LOL”

“Their company is their anti… Ha”
