When a K-Pop group quietly fades from the spotlight without a formal announcement, fans often refer to it as a “silent disbandment.” Unfortunately, that may be what’s happening with Lapillus, a six-member girl group under MLD Entertainment, following a surprising update from their leader.
Lapillus officially debuted in June 2022 with their vibrant and youthful energy, quickly catching global attention for their charisma and multilingual lineup. However, after a long silence from both the group and their agency, fans were left wondering about their future.
On October 26, 2025, Lapillus’s leader Shana broke that silence with a heartfelt announcement on Instagram confirming that she had left MLD Entertainment several months ago.
In a bilingual post written in both Japanese and English, Shana opened up about her departure, explaining that she had hesitated to share the news but didn’t want to keep fans in the dark any longer.
“I am no longer under contract with the agency I was previously affiliated with,” she wrote. “All the memories, experiences, and growth I gained during that time are invaluable treasures that I will never forget.”
She also expressed deep affection for her fellow members Chanty, Yue, Bessie, Seowon và Haeun calling them dear friends who had seen both her strengths and weaknesses.
“Meeting Chanty, Yue, Bessie, Seowon, and Haeun was such a happiness,” she said. “They know both my shortcomings and my good side, and I love them as my dear friends.”
Shana thanked her fans for their continued support and shared that she has been exploring new opportunities since her contract ended, finding joy and fulfillment in new challenges.
“I look forward to the day I can share more good news with you,” she added, ending her message with, “I’m feeling really happy these days and it’s all thanks to you.”
While thousands of fans congratulated Shana on her new journey, others voiced concern that her announcement confirms Lapillus’s silent disbandment.
The group has not released any new music since August 2023 and has remained inactive on social media since February 2025. MLD Entertainment has not issued any statement regarding the group’s current status.
For many fans, Shana’s departure feels like the final sign that Lapillus’s chapter as a group may have quietly come to an end despite the members’ potential and growing international fanbase.
Lapillus made an energetic debut with “HIT YA!” and was praised for their multilingual diversity, featuring members from Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and the U.S. However, despite early momentum, the group’s promotions gradually slowed, and members began pursuing individual activities.
