Kyeon Mi Ri donated Lee Seung Gi & Lee Da In’s wedding congratulatory money to her own foundation? CEO refuted, “Absurd claim”

Coexistence Empathy Foundation CEO expressed displeasure over the rumors that actress Kyeon Mi Ri owns the foundation.

On April 11th, the CEO Lee Geum Joo of Coexistence Empathy Foundation said in a phone conversation with Hankyung Dotcom, “We are grateful for actress Kyeon Mi Ri and we appreciate her support but she does not own this foundation”, adding “It’s an absurd claim and malicious act that undermines the intention of those who have been doing volunteer work with pure motives.”

Earlier, Kyeon Mi Ri reportedly announced her intention to donate her daughter Lee Da In and son-in-law Lee Seung Gi’s wedding congratulatory money to the Korea Information Association for the Disabled and Coexistence Empathy Foundation. However, some people argued, “Isn’t Kyeon Mi Ri donating the congratulatory money to her own foundation just to show off?”, raising suspicion because the laundry for low-income people run by the foundation is actually “(Kyeon) Mi Ri laundry”.

Introducing themselves as someone who has been doing volunteer work such as delivering lunch boxes in Yongsan-gu for over 10 years, the CEO explained, “The leader of the volunteer organization that I knew introduced Kyeon Mi Ri to me. She also expressed her intention to do good deeds, so we have been receiving only donations from her.”

They continued, “From my view, I’m very thankful for her. Kyeon Mi Ri and her family also came and provided help”, adding “Later, I heard that she decided to donate the congratulatory money. It’s not easy to refuse donation money, and I just appreciated it. I had no idea that it would cause such suspicions and rumors.”

Regarding the name of “Mi Ri laundry”, “It expresses the good meaning that we share things with each other in advance, and it was to show our respect to the donor”, dismissing rumors once again.

Meanwhile, Lee Da In and Lee Seung Gi held their private wedding at a hotel in Gangnam, Seoul on the 7th.
