Kpop stars who are returning from the military in 2023

In 2023, fans will welcome back various Kpop stars who finished their mandatory military service. 

The recent suspicion of corruption in the military service, which began in the sports world, has spread to the entertainment world, leading to rising tension. On the other hand, there are several Kpop idols who have finished their military service this year and are returning to their fans in a wonderful way.

VICTON Han Seungwoo will be discharged on January 27th. Han Seungwoo, who enlisted in July 2021, has been carrying out his military duty as an military musician.

EXO Baekhyun, who is serving as a public service worker, will be discharged on February 5th. Due to hypothyroidism, Baekhyun was judged level 4 in a physical examination, and started serving as a social worker in May 2021. As EXO announces a full comeback in 2023, Baekhyun’s dischargement is highly anticipated.

Meanwhile, SHINee Taemin is scheduled to be discharged on April 4th. Taemin entered the training center on May 31st, 2021 and served active duty in the army band. Due to poor health, however, he was transferred to supplementary service in January of last year. With this, Taemin and all other members of SHINee completed their military duty, freeing up activities as a full group.

The first member of MONSTA X to serve in the military, Shownu, will be discharged on April 21st. Shownu has been performing alternative service as a social worker due to a history of retinal detachment surgery in his left eye and a dislocated shoulder. 

DAY6 Young K was the first male idol to enlist in KATUSA (Korean Augmentation To the United States Army), a branch of the Korean army with personnel who are augmented to the Korean Augmentation To the United States Army. He will be discharged on April 11th. 

On the other hand, two other members of DAY6, Dowoon and Wonpil, will finish their military service on July 16th and November 27th, respectively. It is known that while Dowoon served in the army band, Wonpil served in the navy.

In June, ONF, the first idol to join the army together, will return side by side. Starting with MK on June 20, J-Us and Wyatt on the 26th, and E-Tion and Hyo-jin on the 27th are scheduled to be discharged. They will release a special album that they prepared in advance during their military service.

In addition, B1A4 Sandeul in August, SF9 Inseong and Young Bin in September, Block B P.O., Golden Child Lee Dae-yeol, Ace Kim Byung-kwan in October, and Astro MJ in November are set to be discharged.

A music official said, “These days, boy groups have been trying to soothe the regrets of military service and prevent fans from leaving the fandom with content prepared before enlistment,” he said.
