Korea’s first virtual debut survival show… 30 girl group members, cover their faces and “secret filming”

Korea’s first virtual debut survival show “GIRL’S RE:VERSE” revealed its unprecedented filming site involving 30 K-pop girl group members.

Kakao Entertainment is drawing attention by pre-releasing a highlight video of its virtual idol debut survival show “GIRL’S RE:VERSE” (directed by Son Soo Jung, PD Jo Joo Yeon), which will be released for the first time at 9 PM on Jan 2nd, 2023. It vividly shows the filming site where girl group members in the real world “log in” as virtual character girls of the virtual world “W” in order to challenge the debut survival show. From 30 secret individual booths prepared in the large-scale filming site to girls wearing VR devices and accessing the virtual world, “GIRL’S RE:VERSE” is raising viewers’ expectations.

The first episode of “GIRL’S RE:VERSE”, which contains the start of a full-fledged survival show along with the girls’ adaptation to the virtual world, will be broadcast on Kakao Page and YouTube at 9 PM on Jan 2nd, 2023. After that, the program will air every Monday at 9 PM. Various related additional contents will be released on Kakao TV.

“GIRL’S RE:VERSE” is a survival entertainment program in which 30 members of the existing K-pop girl groups compete to debut as a five-member virtual idol group. The system of competing to be selected for the final debut group reminds us of the existing audition programs, but due to the nature of the virtual avatar concept, the contestants will compete with only their skills and hide their real names and identities.
