Korean Media ‘Hunts’ Suga Over Drunk Driving? France Slams It Sharply!

Suga (Min Yoongi, 31), a member of BTS, who is accused of riding an electric scooter while intoxicated, faces growing concerns over the domestic media’s witch-hunt-like coverage. French media has criticized this approach.

On the 22nd (local time), French weekly Paris Match published an article online criticizing the situation, titled “False Reports and Pressures… What’s Happening with BTS’s Suga?”

The publication expressed that Korean media have relentlessly targeted Suga over the past few weeks and questioned, “Suga has admitted to irresponsibly riding an electric scooter, and while no one denies the dangers of riding such a scooter in the city, it is hard to understand why journalists are being so persistently aggressive.”

Previously, some media outlets reported false information about Suga’s special leave suspension from his military service due to his drunk driving incident. This situation has raised concerns that the media’s actions might be seen as excessive and unfair. Paris Match has highlighted this issue.

Additionally, according to reports, international fans are not particularly concerned about Suga’s drunk driving. One opinion expressed was, “How can HYBE explain to the U.S., the heartland of the star system and scandals, that they had to dismantle the world’s most popular group over a scooter with a saddle?”

The media also pointed out that Korea imposes excessively high moral standards on celebrities, referencing the death of Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun, who passed away in January.

Meanwhile, Suga acknowledged the charges of drunk driving on a scooter during his police investigation on the afternoon of the 23rd.
