Korean Adaptation of ‘Someday or Oneday’ Falls Short of the Original

The Korean version of “Someday or Oneday” is considered to be inferior to the original.

Released on September 8th, the project “A Time Called You” is a remake of the highly popular “Someday or Oneday” which had garnered significant attention. However, at present, the drama starring Jeon Yeo Been and Ahn Hyo Seop is receiving harsh criticism and is being compared unfavorably to the Chinese version featuring Hu Yitian and Qiao Giai Yan.

A Time Called You

As “A Time Called You” has officially aired, the Korean adaptation of “Someday or Oneday” has been met with widespread disappointment, particularly in the case of the male lead Yeon Jun/Si Hun (played by Ahn Hyo Seop), which in the Chinese version was portrayed by Hu Yitian/Victor Wang.

Ahn Hyo Seop’s performance in “A Time Called You” is being criticized. Some opinions suggest that Ahn Hyo Seop doesn’t appear much different from when he played in “Dr. Romantic,” and this is seen as the consequence of taking on too many projects in a short span without thoroughly researching the characters. Additionally, Ahn Hyo Seop’s appearance in the project, with long disheveled hair and dark, lifeless skin, has left a bad impression.

Furthermore, the role of the female lead played by Jeon Yeo Been also failed to make a strong impression, even though the actress is considered to have a better performance than Ahn Hyo Seop. In “A Time Called You,” the only actor who is currently satisfying the audience is Kang Hoon, who portrays the supporting character.
