Actress Kim Tae-ri is set to appear in her first-ever fixed variety show since her debut, marking a brand-new challenge in her career. tvN’s upcoming variety program Curtain Up, Class! (produced by Studio Slam) is a new reality show that follows the world’s only after-school theater class, created at a small rural elementary school. With Kim Tae-ri , Choi Hyun-wook , and Kangnam confirmed as cast members, anticipation for the program continues to rise.
For Kim Tae-ri , this marks her first fixed appearance on a variety show since debut. Known for showcasing a wide acting spectrum across romance, sci-fi, historical dramas, and even traditional Korean theater, she now takes on a completely different role as an elementary school theater club teacher. Having first begun acting through a university theater club, attention is focused on how Kim Tae-ri’s own roots in theater will shape her journey as a teacher.
Joining Kim Tae-ri as assistant teachers are Choi Hyun-wook and Kangnam , who will help lead the theater class together. Choi Hyun-wook is expected to act as a counselor figure who listens carefully to even the smallest voices of the children, while also delivering laughter with his charmingly clumsy personality and natural chemistry with the students.

The addition of Kangnam , known for his exceptional sociability, has also drawn attention. With his signature friendliness, Kangnam is set to break down barriers instantly and take on the role of the theater class’s certified mood-maker. The unpredictable chemistry between three first-time teachers and the elementary school students is expected to be one of the show’s biggest highlights.
The production team shared, “Curtain Up, Class! was inspired by real-life cases where after-school programs helped revive schools facing closure.” They added, “We ask for your interest and support for this one-of-a-kind theater class, where first-time teachers Kim Tae-ri, Choi Hyun-wook, and Kangnam grow together with the children.”
tvN’s new variety show Curtain Up, Class! is scheduled to premiere on February 22 at 7:40 p.m. KST.
