In the first episode of tvN’s “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born,” which aired on October 7th, Kim Tae-ri, Jung Eun-chae and Shin Ye-eun proved their splendid acting skills.
Kim Tae-ri said of her role as Yoon Jeong-nyeon, “Jeong-nyeon is a person who is selling fish on the floor of the market in Mokpo, and then, believing in her singer’s talent, goes to Seoul and enter the National Changgeuk Company of Korea with a desire to make money.”
“Jeong-nyeon is a person who I think is honest and straightforward. I heard that the original webtoon’s write draws her based on the motif of my role as Sook-hee in “The Handmaiden” I think that’s why I was able to sync with the webtoon well. Regarding the role of Moon Ok-kyung played by Jung Eun-chae, Shin Ye-eun said, “Everyone watching ‘Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born’ will be fascinated by Moon Ok-kyung. She has become the prince herself.”
Producer Jeong Ji-in said, “Eun-chae was an actress who I always thought was very beautiful, but when I suggested her the role, she was a little surprised. It was her first time to have a role with such an image. She said she thought she would play the role of Hye-rang. When she first tried on the outfit, she had to cut his hair gradually, and it was so cool to see. We all called her prince.”
“On the day of the reading, Jung Eun-chae appeared with a short cut and a shirt, and we said, ‘That’s enough. We have our prince,'” co-star Ra Mi-ran shared.
Jung Eun-chae said, “At first, I really wanted to run away. It was because I was not used to the situation and I was so embarrassed, but I think it helped me in acting. I guess I was really a prince. I was called a prince, and I think I had to act accordingly. For more than six months, I continued to wear men’s clothes, including the preparation process. It’s the same outside the scene.”
In particular, Shin Ye-eun explained about her role as Heo Young-seo, “I think Young-seo is a perfectionist who wants to be perfect. I think Young-seo is a child who doesn’t want to show any flaws to anyone. I think she is a child who wants to be regarded as a respected person by everyone.”
Shin Ye-eun expressed her affection, saying, “I’m not perfect, but as a person who wants to be perfect, I’m a little similar to Young-seo. Even if I don’t do well, I think I have the same persistence and passion to try hard.”
