Actor Kim Soo-hyun and his legal representatives have publicly refuted claims surrounding his alleged relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron, calling out manipulated messages, photos, and other fabricated evidence as a “nationwide fraud crime.”
On October 27, Kim Soo-hyun’s attorney Ko Sang-rok of the law firm Phil made a detailed statement via his YouTube channel and social media, directly challenging the narratives promoted by Kim Se-ui, the head of the YouTube channel “Garo Sero Institute”, and the late Kim Sae-ron’s family.
Ko Sang-rok stated that the controversy began with false claims based on a fabricated public statement supposedly left by the late actress.
Ko Sang-rok criticized the manipulation of photos and messages, highlighting that images from Kim Soo-hyun’s adult relationships were falsely presented as proof of a relationship during Kim Sae-ron’s minor years.
He noted, “The representative repeatedly claimed daily on broadcasts that thousands of photos would be released, yet none have been provided to date.” He also pointed out the deliberate juxtaposition of letters Kim Soo-hyun sent during his military service with postcards from a later adult relationship to mislead the public, falsely portraying them as “grooming evidence.”
The lawyer further explained that KakaoTalk conversations were forged, adult-era photos were misrepresented as those from Kim Sae-ron’s minor years, and these actions were taken knowingly to benefit the perpetrators.
Ko Sang-rok condemned the parties involved for exploiting the late actress after her passing, stating: “The offenders colluded for their personal gain, resurrecting lies under the guise of the deceased’s voice, manipulating evidence, and amplifying false narratives while using the deceased as a shield. This is a malicious crime exploiting the public’s inability to easily refute claims about someone who has passed.”
He added that the perpetrators leveraged the deceased’s name for donations, political gain, and personal publicity, describing their actions as intentional conspiracies to destroy the living while hiding behind the deceased. He emphasized that the core of the case is evidence fabrication, constituting a previously unseen nationwide fraud and social character assassination of an innocent victim.
Kim Sae-ron’s family had claimed through Garo Sero Institute that Kim Soo-hyun dated the late actress from late 2015 to July 2021, when she was underage. Kim Soo-hyun’s legal team strongly refuted this, clarifying that the alleged relationship occurred only after she had reached adulthood, from summer 2019 to fall 2020.
