Kim Soo-hyun Got Paid 18 Times Higher In “Queen Of Tears” Compared To Previous Drama?
It is reported that Kim Soo-hyun’s appearance fees have increased significantly in “Queen of Tears”
Kim Soo-hyun finally made his comeback on the small screen with “Queen of Tears”, acting alongside actress Kim Ji-won. Immediately after its release, the drama drew keen attention with its unique and unexpected developments. Apart from his character, Kim Soo-hyun also aroused fans’ interest with the appearance fees he received in this project.
According to Preview PH, the budget of “Queen of Tears” was 40 billion won and it is one of the Korean dramas with the highest budgets like “Mr. Sunshine” and “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls”.
In addition, this site also revealed that Kim Soo-hyun got paid much higher than when he starred in his previous work “One Ordinary Day”. Accordingly, the actor might have received as many as 9.3 billion won per episode of “Queen of Tears”.
Kim Soo-hyun’s agency has not yet responded to the news about the his appearance fees in “Queen of Tears”. Previously, when OSEN reported that Kim Soo-hyun earned 500 million won from each episode of “One Ordinary Day”, his agency refused to make statements regarding details of the actor’s contract with the production team.
However, some people pointed out that 9.3 billion won per episode is impossible because Kim Soo-hyun’s appearance fees for all 16 episodes would exceed the drama’s budget. Although nothing has been confirmed about how much Kim Soo-hyun got paid, it is true that he’s the Korean actor with the highest appearance fees.
“Queen of Tears” depicts the romance of Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won), a third-generation chaebol and “queen of Queen’s Department Store”, and Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun), son of Yongdu-ri village and a “prince of supermarket” as they face crisis and restart their love in the third year of their marriage.
