Kim Soo-hyun Felt Ashamed to be the Youngest Actor that Won a Grand Prize?

Actor Kim Soo-hyun recently opened up about the pressure he felt when he became the youngest actor to win a Grand Prize. 

On the March 13 episode of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block”, Kim Soo-hyun appeared and shared various stories.

On this day, Kim Soo-hyun expressed his thoughts on working with Jun Ji-hyun in the K-drama “My Love from the Star”, following their collaboration in the movie “The Thieves”. 

“I was grateful to meet her again after ‘The Thieves’. Now that I think about it, there were a lot of parts where I had to digest the comic acting that Cheon Song-yi (female lead of ‘My Love from the Star) did for ‘Queen of Tears’”, the actor said, mentioning his newly released drama, “Queen of Tears”.

Upon saying this, Kim Soo-hyun can’t help but express his admiration for Jun Ji-hyun, saying, “Once again, I realized, ‘My sister was doing something so difficult.’ She was a real professional.” 

Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun was the youngest actor to win a Grand Prize, having received such an award through the 2015 KBS drama “The Producers”. Regarding this, the actor mentioned at he felt pressure at the time, saying, “Looking back now, it was a good time, and I had a lot, but at that time, I couldn’t enjoy it.”

“I felt ashamed, like I couldn’t enjoy the love and attention I was receiving, and I felt like I had to hide, thinking, ‘Do I not need to show my true self?’ I thought I had to protect myself, afraid of losing it”, the actor continued.

Kim Soo-hyun then confessed, “I was 25 years old at the time, and I felt a wall at every end-of-the-broadcast interview. It felt like I couldn’t digest it. I couldn’t shake off the feeling of regret. I thought I had to do better, be flawless, and protect myself. I couldn’t afford any incidents or accidents. From then on, I lived with a feeling of drifting away when no one hugged me.”

Finally, the actor said, “It was a great relief for me to go to the military. It was a time when I could organize my mind and thoughts, and I actually became physically stronger.”
