During a phone interview on YTN’s Wise Radio Life on June 1, attorney Go Sang-rok, who represents Kim Soo-hyun, spoke cautiously about the actor’s future activities.
“It is difficult to discuss specific plans regarding his return at this point,” the attorney said. “His agency is carefully considering the matter. As his legal representative, I will continue to provide support so that he can eventually stand before the public again through his work.”
The attorney also shared an update on Kim Soo-hyun’s current condition, describing the actor as someone who has endured severe reputational damage due to what he characterized as a serious cybercrime case. “He was in a situation where his reputation and personal dignity were nearly destroyed due to severe cybercrime victimization,” Go Sang-rok explained. “He is gradually recovering his reputation, but for now, his return to everyday life is the most important priority.”
Addressing speculation regarding a reported 30 billion won (approximately $22 million) damages lawsuit, the attorney stressed that the focus should not be on the monetary figure itself. “Rather than becoming fixated on a specific amount, what matters is that the truth comes to light and that society warmly welcomes the actor back to where he belongs.”
Go Sang-rok also commented on the recently disclosed detention warrant request involving Kim Se-ui. According to the attorney, the warrant application reportedly exceeded 30 pages, which he described as highly unusual. “A detention warrant request exceeding 30 pages is very rare,” he said. “It can be interpreted as indicating that prosecutors and police have considerable confidence in proving the allegations against Kim Se-ui and the individuals involved.”
The controversy traces back to March 2024, when late actress Kim Sae-ron briefly uploaded and deleted a photo featuring Kim Soo-hyun, sparking dating rumors. At the time, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency denied the claims.
Following Kim Sae-ron’s death in February 2025, the situation escalated when Kim Se-ui and the actress’s bereaved family held press conferences alleging that Kim Soo-hyun had dated Kim Sae-ron while she was a minor. Additional claims were made suggesting that financial pressure from Kim Soo-hyun’s side contributed to her distress.
Kim Soo-hyun’s team has firmly denied the allegations, stating that he never dated Kim Sae-ron while she was underage and arguing that some of the evidence presented by accusers, including alleged messenger conversations, was fabricated. The actor’s side has since pursued legal action.
Meanwhile, Kim Se-ui filed a request for a detention review hearing five days after being arrested on defamation-related charges. The hearing was scheduled to take place on June 2.
