On the night of May 27, Kim Se Ui, who had publicly claimed that the late Kim Sae Ron dated Kim Soo Hyun while she was still a minor, was officially arrested. Following the news, Kim Soo Hyun’s side released a statement welcoming the development, saying that “the truth has been revealed.”
However, despite the seemingly favorable turn, the atmosphere surrounding the actor remains cautious after new warning messages were posted online by the family of the late Sulli, particularly her older brother.
On May 22, Sulli’s brother wrote on Instagram, “I have a 37-minute recorded phone conversation with my sister’s former manager.” He further explained that the recording allegedly includes mentions of Kim Soo Hyun and film director Lee Sarang, also known as Lee Robe, while containing details about difficult moments from Sulli’s past.
He added, “There are many things I want to ask, but I’m holding back for my mother’s sake,” before warning, “Last year I only briefly touched on the movie issue, but I don’t want to keep using this in the future. Let me make it clear in advance that there are no false claims.”
The statements were interpreted by many as implying that the alleged recording would not be favorable toward Kim Soo Hyun.
Sulli’s brother later intensified attention by posting additional messages such as, “The second round begins the moment he crawls back out,” and “There’s one guy from the stars,” which many viewed as direct criticism aimed at Kim Soo Hyun and his possible comeback.
Last year, Sulli’s family also raised allegations related to the filming of the movie Real, starring Kim Soo Hyun and directed by Lee Sarang. They claimed that Sulli had allegedly been pressured into filming explicit bed scenes and revealing scenes during production.
At the time, Kim Soo Hyun’s side firmly denied the accusations, stating that there had been no coercion during filming. However, tensions between the actor’s camp and Sulli’s bereaved family reportedly remained unresolved.
As police investigations increasingly concluded that many of the accusations raised by Kim Se Ui were false, public opinion had slowly begun shifting toward sympathy for Kim Soo Hyun. However, Sulli’s family’s latest warnings about possible audio recordings have once again placed the actor under emotional and social pressure.
Industry insiders believe that while Kim Soo Hyun may have succeeded in countering individuals accused of spreading false information, he still faces the difficult challenge of navigating emotionally charged conflicts involving the families of both Kim Sae Ron and Sulli.
For that reason, many in the entertainment industry believe his return to full public activities may not happen quickly.
From Kim Soo Hyun’s perspective, just as one major hurdle appeared to be cleared, another difficult obstacle emerged immediately afterward. Attention is now focused on whether the actor will eventually overcome the continuing controversies and safely return to the public eye with his upcoming project Knock-Off.
