Kim Soo-hyun appeared as a guest on “Tetsuko’s Room,” a representative talk show of Japanese national channel TV Asahi, on July 19th.

In this program, when asked if he thought “Queen of Tears” would be a hit, Kim Soo-hyun replied, “Of course, I don’t think ‘this work will be a big hit’ from the beginning,” adding, “But I thought that many people could sympathize because it was a love story, a family story, and a married couple story.”

Kim Soo-hyun, who is also known as the “crying genius” for performing realistic crying scenes in each of his works, revealed, “I think I had did a lot of emotional acting in dramas. I don’t know how other actors pull it off, but I think when I act emotionally, tears are not the main aspect, I rather focus more on expressing my sadness, pain, and joy.” “There are many cases where the emotions are conveyed even if the tears don’t flow, so I personally like acting emotionally,” he said.

Kim Soo-hyun recently made headlines by singing “Gingiragin ni sarigenaku” by Masahiko Kondo, released in 1981, at his Japanese fan meeting. As for the reason for choosing this song, he said, “It was a very famous song, and my mother recommended it.”

In the program, Kim also revealed about his childhood. “When I was young, I liked to be playful and funny among my friends. But I became more and more introverted,” Kim said.

Kim Soo-hyun revealed he did not have a clear dream when he was a child, saying, “That was always my concern for my mother and me. When school asked me to write down my future career, my friends wrote down doctors or presidents, but I didn’t have any clue so it was difficult for me to fill in the answer every time. So I grew up as an introvert, and my mother recommended me to learn acting, so I started acting.”

“I think I’ll start filming the next one in August. It’s a drama called ‘Knock-off,'” Kim said of his plans for his next project.
