Kim Seon Ho successfully takes off his ‘melodrama’ image to perform a fierce character in “The Childe”

“Melodrama master” Kim Seon Ho impresses viewers with a completely new image transformation in his debut film “The Childe”.

Kim Seon Ho made his debut in 2009 with “New Boeing Boeing” and then gradually accumulated acting experience by starring in dramas of various genres, such as “Good Manager”, “Strongest Deliveryman”, “Two Cops”, etc. He got his first leading role in MBC’s short romance “You Drive Me Crazy”.

In 2020, Kim Seon Ho gained recognition as a “melodrama master” after playing the role of Han Ji Pyeong in tvN’s Sat-Sun drama “Start-Up”, which tells about young people who dream of successful startups in Korea’s Silicon Valley. Perfectly portraying the tsundere characteristic of Han Ji Pyeong, Kim Seon Ho captivated female fans’ hearts and created a sub-male lead sensation.

Later, Kim Seon Ho appeared in tvN’s healing drama “Hometown Cha Cha Cha” and reached his heyday. Playing the role of all-rounder Chief Hong in a peaceful sea village and performing an interesting romance with Shin Min Ah, Kim Seon Ho fluttered the hearts of viewers with his calm and soft voice as well as his dimple smile.

Making his comeback with the movie “The Childe” after a long hiatus, Kim Seon Ho suddenly gave up the “melodrama expert” image that he had built through various successful works to take on a more powerful character with intense eyes. In “The Childe”, which tells about various forces chasing after the boy Marco for different purposes, Kim Seon Ho appears as Nobleman, who madly chases Marco and turns his surroundings into a mess.

Many viewers, who had been familiar with Kim Seon Ho’s dimple smile and bright appearance in dramas, were surprised to see the actor’s 180-degree transformation as Nobleman in his movie debut “The Childe”.

The special reason behind Kim Seon Ho’s decision to join “The Childe” was that Nobleman is not an absolute villain, which is an image he had never tried before. He paid keen attention to portraying Nobleman as a character that would keep viewers wondering whether he is good or bad until the end. Apart from maintaining his cheerful tone and bright smile that fans love, Kim Seon Ho added a thrilling atmosphere with creepy lines to complete contrasting sides of a Nobleman, leaving a deep impression on viewers as “a crazy guy who looks nice”.

Many people expressed expectations and doubts when the news of Kim Seon Ho getting cast in a noir movie was reported. However, “The Childe” director Park Hoon Jung praised Kim Seon Ho, saying “I found a face who suits Nobleman perfectly”.

Meanwhile, “The Childe” premiered on June 21st and is now showing in all cinemas.
