Actor Kim Nam-gil is set to headline a new corporate finance-themed drama, showcasing a completely different side of his acting career as he transforms into a professional banker.

On June 18, Kim Nam-gil shared several photos on Instagram, writing: "My first day at Kookmin Bank! Please take good care of me." The images featured the actor dressed in a sharp gray suit, perfectly embodying the image of a corporate banking professional. His polished appearance and charismatic presence immediately drew attention from fans.

On the same day, KB Kookmin Bank announced plans to produce a drama centered on corporate finance, with Kim Nam-gil leading the project. The content aims to introduce viewers to the role and value of corporate finance specialists who work directly with business clients in the field. Rather than using traditional advertising, the bank has chosen a drama format to communicate these concepts in a more engaging and accessible way.

The drama content will begin with a teaser video scheduled for release on June 19. According to the announcement, the project will consist of four episodes in total, with new installments released weekly every Friday through YouTube. The unconventional format is expected to blend entertainment with educational insights into the corporate banking sector, while leveraging Kim Nam-gil’s star power to attract viewers.

Kim Nam-gil’s latest project has also reignited discussion about his earlier decision to pass on Netflix’s hit series Teach You a Lesson. The actor reportedly received casting offers for the drama but publicly declined the project on two separate occasions.

At the time, the adaptation faced controversy due to debates surrounding its original webtoon source material. Following an extended adaptation process and significant revisions, the role eventually went to Kim Mu-yeol. After its release, Teach You a Lesson became a global success on Netflix, prompting renewed public interest in Kim Nam-gil’s decision to turn down the opportunity.

Despite passing on the Netflix project, Kim Nam-gil continues to maintain a busy schedule. The actor is also preparing to lead SBS’s upcoming drama Nightmare, which is scheduled to premiere in 2027. With a corporate finance drama arriving first and a major television project already on the horizon, Kim Nam-gil appears poised to showcase a wide range of characters in the coming years.
