During his appearance on the August 8 episode of KBS Cool FM’s Lee Eun-ji’s Music Plaza, actor Kim Nam-gil was asked about the widely talked-about moment from his unusually long 310-minute fan meeting, part of the Road to Gil tour held in March.
“How does someone even hold a fan meeting for over five hours?” host Lee Eun-ji asked.
Kim Nam-gil responded with a laugh, acknowledging the public’s curiosity—but also clarifying a common misconception.
“People think it was just me rambling the whole time, but it wasn’t like that at all,” he said. “It’s called a fan meeting, not a talk show. We did games, shared updates, and sang together. That’s why it took time—it wasn’t just me talking non-stop.”
He also shared some amusing behind-the-scenes moments from the event, “When our eyes met, fans would smile. But if I looked away… some were dozing off. Some younger ones were just fully asleep,” he said, laughing. “Still, even if just one or two people are truly into it, I go all in to the very end.”
Kim Nam-gil’s comments show that what may have seemed like an overwhelming marathon was, in fact, a rich mix of interaction, music, and emotion—true to the spirit of a fan meeting.
