On May 19, Kim Min Jong’s legal representative, law firm Oh Kims, released an official statement denying all accusations currently circulating online. The statement read, “All content currently being discussed online regarding Kim Min Jong is clearly false information.”
The legal team continued by expressing concern over the rapid spread of what they described as malicious defamation. They stated, “Malicious defamatory reports are spreading indiscriminately. Due to the distribution of provocative and sensational false information, the mental suffering and damage to the social reputation experienced by Kim Min Jong, his family, and those who have trusted and supported him for a long time have already reached an irreparable level.”
The representatives also warned of strong legal action, adding, “Kim Min Jong has firmly decided to confront this matter head-on without any compromise in order to prove his innocence.”
Kim Min Jong personally addressed the controversy as well. He said, “I am looking at the current situation with deep regret and frustration. However, I want to clearly state that the claims currently being made about me are not true.” Through this statement, he directly denied the allegations raised by MC Mong.
He further added, “After thoroughly verifying and organizing the facts regarding the related matters, I plan to hold those responsible legally accountable through both civil and criminal action where necessary.”
The controversy began after MC Mong conducted a live broadcast on social media, during which he claimed that there was a gambling group known as “Baduki” and alleged that Kim Min Jong was a member.
MC Mong additionally claimed that Cha Jun Young, the uncle of One Hundred chairwoman Cha Ga Won, was also part of the group. According to MC Mong, Cha Jun Young allegedly gave tips to Kim Min Jong after winning money through gambling, and he further accused Kim Min Jong of using that money for prostitution-related activities.
MC Mong also stated during the broadcast, “I even have recordings and report messages. Go ahead and sue me for defamation. If that happens, I’ll expose everything exactly as it is.”
