Singer Kim Jong Kook drew attention after confessing what he described as “addiction-like symptoms” during a television appearance, leading to an unexpected conclusion. The revelation came on the upcoming Christmas special episode of KBS’s Problem Child in House, set to air on December 25, which features child and adolescent psychiatry specialist Dr. Kim Bung Nyeon as a guest.
During the broadcast, Dr. Kim energized the studio with engaging mental health discussions and practical insights. At one point, Kim Jong Kook cautiously asked, “Doctor, does exercise addiction count as an actual addiction?” prompting laughter from everyone present. Contrary to expectations, Dr. Kim replied, “Exercise addiction is not considered an addiction,” and went on to explain the reasoning behind his answer.

Yang Se Chan also shared his own concerns, recalling a common phrase written in students’ report cards during childhood: “Gets along well with peers but is easily distracted.” He admitted that this description followed him throughout his school years and wondered aloud if it had been an early sign of ADHD. Yang added that even now, when doing housework, he finds himself jumping from one task to another without finishing properly, expressing concern about possible adult ADHD. Dr. Kim’s response reportedly delivered a surprising diagnosis that left the studio in shock, further heightening viewers’ curiosity.
The full psychological assessment results for Kim Jong Kook and Yang Se Chan will be revealed on December 25 at 8:30 p.m.

Kim Jong Kook has long been known for his intense dedication to exercise. Earlier this year, in January, he uploaded a video documenting his health checkup, during which he candidly admitted, “I don’t even know if exercising is actually healthy for me anymore.” He shocked viewers by revealing that after undergoing hernia surgery, he resumed working out at home just two days later.
Debuting in 1995 as part of the two-member performance group Turbo, Kim Jong Kook has enjoyed a long and successful career as both a singer and entertainer. He currently appears on popular variety shows such as Running Man and My Little Old Boy, while also running his personal YouTube channel Gym Jong Kook. This past September, he married a non-celebrity at a hotel in Seoul, marking a new chapter in his life just three months before his candid on-air confession about his so-called “addiction.”
