According to reports on April 23, Kim Jae Won has been offered the male lead role in the upcoming drama “The Palace Flower Blooms” (working title). The project is already generating buzz, especially with Park Eun Bin reportedly reviewing the female lead role.
The drama is based on a popular 2007 web novel and is set in a fictional kingdom called Eun Nation. It tells the story of a strikingly beautiful yet fierce royal consort known as “Gaehwa” and her intense romance with a cold, calculating emperor.

If confirmed, Park Eun Bin will portray the bold and unpredictable consort, while Kim Jae Won is expected to take on the role of Emperor Eon – marking a powerful on-screen pairing.
Kim Jae Won’s casting momentum comes directly from his recent performance as Shin Soon Rok in “Yumi’s Cells 3.” The actor has been praised for his high synchronization with the original webtoon character, capturing both the intelligent charm and unexpected “puppy-like” warmth that won over viewers.

The series itself achieved notable success, ranking No.1 in paid subscriber contribution during its first week, further solidifying Kim Jae Won’s status as a breakout star.
Beyond the drama, Kim Jae Won also drew attention through a pictorial with Kim Go Eun for Harper’s Bazaar, where their natural chemistry stood out.

In an interview, he expressed gratitude, saying: “It was an honor to join the final journey of such a beloved project. Thanks to Go Eun noona’s consideration, I was able to act comfortably and learned a lot.”
Kim Go Eun also shared warm words, highlighting the enjoyable collaboration and her affection for her junior co-star.
From “King the Land” to “Hierarchy” and now “Yumi’s Cells 3,” Kim Jae Won has steadily built an impressive portfolio.

Recently renewing his contract with Mystic Story despite multiple offers, he demonstrated loyalty and trust qualities that further strengthen his industry reputation.
With a potential pairing alongside Park Eun Bin in a high-profile historical romance, all eyes are now on Kim Jae Won’s next move.
If confirmed, “The Palace Flower Blooms” could mark a defining moment in his career transforming him from a rising star into a full-fledged leading man in the K-drama scene.
