The new tvN weekend drama “The Uncanny Counter: Counter Punch” (hereinafter referred to as “The Uncanny Counter 2”) tells the thrilling story of the “Counters”, demon hunters with enhanced abilities, who fight stronger demons on Earth whilst disguising as employees of a restaurant. Compared to its 1st installment, Season 2 will be even more intense, with new members, strong powers, and formidable villains.

Here, Kim Hieora takes on the role of Gelli, a third-level demon, and aims “escape” the image of her previous performance in “The Glory”.

In particular, on July 13th, Kim Hieora revealed in an interview that she chose “The Uncanny Counter 2” as her next project because she enjoyed the first season so much. She expressed her strong trust in the director, and showed high anticipation for yet another enjoyable collaboration, following their previous work together, “Bad and Crazy.”

Regarding joining the second season, Kim Hieora said she felt more excitement than pressure. She shared her excitement about working with fellow senior actors Jin Seon Kyu and Kang Ki Young, who she greatly admires. In addition, her transformed visual with short blonde hair  has raised expectations for her performance in the series.

According to Kim Hieora, the character of Gelli Berherd, which she eagerly wanted to portray, is another challenge for her as an actress. To play this role, Kim Hieora dedicated herself to building muscles, adjusting her diet for the first time and working out diligently. She also transformed her appearance by bleaching her hair and cutting it extremely short, enjoying the personal excitement that came with it.

In preparation for impressive action scenes, she attended action school to learn various movements, including stunts, and conducted extensive research to enhance her performance. She expressed her anticipation of showcasing a new side to the viewers.

Regarding her character Gelli in “The Uncanny Counter 2”, Kim Hieora shared, “Gelli freely expresses her emotion. Therefore, I think viewers would enjoy watching her, especially considering the contrast with the demons from Season 1, including Ji Cheong Shin (Lee Hong Nae) and Baek Hyang Hee (Ok Ja Yeon).”

“Since the special abilities have been upgraded, you can expect a more vicious and capable devil”, the actress also added.

In conclusion, Kim Hieora believed that the spectacular and impressive action scenes would be a highlight of Season 2, adding, “I hope you enjoy watching it while getting air conditioner in the hot summer.”

On the other hand, “The Uncanny Counter 2” will premiere on July 29th at 9:20 PM (KST).
