As reported by Xports News on July 21, Kim Go-eun has confirmed her role in Spirit, a new historical romance series written by Park Ji-eun, the acclaimed screenwriter behind My Love from the Star and Queen of Tears. The project will be helmed by director Kim Won-seok, known for hits like Misaeng, Signal, and most recently, When Life Gives You Tangerines.
Kang Dong-won, who plays the male lead, adds even more star power to the already highly anticipated production. With both actors’ participation now confirmed, expectations are high for their on-screen chemistry.
Kang Dong-won is also gearing up for the release of Disney+ original series Polaris later this year, where he stars alongside Jun Ji-hyun. The casting alone has generated buzz ahead of its premiere.

Meanwhile, Kim Go-eun recently announced her return in Yumi’s Cells Season 3 on TVING. In May, she shared her excitement, saying, “I’m honored and happy to continue Yumi’s story, which has received so much love. Portraying a character over such a long time is a special experience for me as an actress.”
Her co-star in Yumi’s Cells Season 3 will be rising actor Kim Jae-won, known for roles in Our Blues (tvN), King the Land (JTBC), and The Tale of Lady Ok. With a 10-year age gap between the two, viewers are curious to see their “noona romance” chemistry unfold.
Yumi’s Cells is based on the best-selling webtoon of the same name and follows Yumi, now a successful author, and her emotional journey through life and love. The announcement of Season 3 marks a return after three years since the last installment.
With Kim Go-eun juggling two high-profile projects and Kang Dong-won’s star rising on both streaming and network platforms, Spirit is poised to be one of the most anticipated dramas in the coming year.
