In 2022, ahead of LE SSERAFIM’s debut, suspicions arose that Kim Garam was involved in school violence. In response, HYBE denied the allegations, claiming Kim Garam was a victim of malicious rumors, cyberbullying, and school violence herself.

Despite taking legal action against the whistleblower, more revelations exposing Kim Garam followed, leading to a legal battle. Kim Garam halted her activities after LE SSERAFIM’s debut and eventually left the group. HYBE later confirmed her departure, “We have decided to terminate the exclusive contract with Kim Garam. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to many, including the fans, due to the controversies surrounding Kim Garam.”

After leaving LE SSERAFIM, Kim Garam addressed the allegations of school violence through her acquaintance on social media. She said, “I have never beaten or been violent towards anyone, not even once. I have never experienced forced transfer. I have never smoked or consumed alcohol. I have never bullied or ostracized anyone. I was just a regular student.”

She added, “My debut was the culmination of the time I fought for my dreams. The first two weeks after debut were like a dream come true, but they will be remembered as an unforgettable time in my life.”
