Kim Bo-ra, who stars in MBC’s “Black Out”, discussed her character in an interview with MyDaily. “Black Out” is a reverse-tracing crime thriller about a young man falsely accused of murder after a mysterious bodyless crime. 10 years later, he uncovers the truth about what really happened. In the drama, Kim Bo-ra played Ha-seol, a mysterious outsider in the city of Mucheon.
Kim Bo-ra described her character as someone who cannot tolerate injustice. She explained, “The reason I took a leave of absence from school was because I was angered by the unfairness of my professor and seniors. This personality trait drives the main character, leading me to remain neutral and observe the situation objectively.”
Regarding the storyline involving a leave of absence from medical school, she jokingly remarked, “I resolved my grievances from ‘SKY Castle’ here.” Kim Bo-ra gained significant popularity for her role as Kim Hye-na, who dreams of entering medical school but faces an unjust death in “SKY Castle”.
Kim Bo-ra shared stories about her connection with Kim Hye-yoon, whom she met through the “SKY Castle” drama. She noted, “There’s only a one-year age difference, so we relate well,” her eyes shining with excitement. She added, “Ever since SKY Castle, I’ve noticed that Hye-yoon brings an intense energy to her performances. I was really happy for her when I saw that she won an award at the Seoul Drama Awards 2024 recently.”
Kim Bo-ra mentioned that just yesterday, she suddenly told her husband, “I hope Hye-yoon enjoys her work more.” She noted, “From Hye-yoon’s perspective, I’ve been in this field for a long time, so I might seem like a senior,” expressing her gratitude for the letters Kim Hye-yoon often writes to her. She reflected, “I think I need to be a supportive peer and senior who encourages Hye-yoon to showcase her talent,” revealing her sincere wish for Kim Hye-yoon to enjoy more projects.
Kim Bo-ra admitted, “I haven’t had celebrity friends for long.” She remarked, “I’ve heard that it’s difficult to get close to me,” explaining that she has lived with the mindset that there’s no need to be close to colleagues while working. She concluded by saying, “I’m very straightforward and direct, but I don’t show this side to anyone except my 3 close non-celebrity friends.”
