According to Hanteo Chart, KiiiKiii’s second mini-album “Delulu Pack” , released on January 26, recorded first-week sales of 41,000 copies. While the figure itself is not disastrous, it represents a dramatic decline compared to their previous release.

The group’s debut mini-album, “UNCUT GEM” , released in March last year, sold 206,000 copies during its first week. This places “Delulu Pack” at roughly one-fifth of the sales volume of their debut, highlighting a steep downward trend.

Although multiple factors may have contributed to the decline, many point to a controversy that erupted in November last year as a key reason. During a live broadcast, member Sui introduced a cup of udon, saying it was something the members frequently ate during their trainee days. At that moment, member Ha-eum commented to fans, “Do you know what’s inside Sui’s head? There are udon noodles inside,” while pointing at her head. She continued by adding, “No, no, because Sui is stupid,” catching both the members and viewers off guard.

The remarks, coming from a rookie group barely a year into their career, sparked criticism for being inappropriate and disrespectful. The situation was further aggravated as the issue passed without a formal apology, leaving lingering discomfort among fans and the public.

When KiiiKiii returned with their new album amid high expectations, the sales figures instead reflected a sharp loss of momentum. Still, there are signs of resilience. On domestic digital platforms, KiiiKiii has shown relatively stable performance. According to Melon, the group ranked 65th on the daily chart, while their song peaked at No. 23 on the Top 100 chart, indicating continued public interest in their music despite setbacks.

As KiiiKiii navigates the aftermath of controversy and fluctuating fan support, attention remains on whether the group can rebuild trust and regain the momentum they once had at debut.
