Chinese actor Zheng Kai, widely known as a “heartthrob” from the hit variety show Keep Running, has recently been dubbed “the most pitiful man in C-entertainment” by local media. Reports revealed that he is shouldering the immense responsibility of supporting eight dependents, leaving him financially strained despite his successful career.
Zheng Kai married actress Vivi Miao in 2020. After their marriage, Vivi Miao quit acting, became a full-time homemaker, and gave birth to three children. That same year, her entire family—including her parents, younger sister, and even their pet dog—moved from Beijing to live with the couple in Shanghai, citing childcare support as the reason. Consequently, Zheng Kai has been financially responsible not only for his wife and three children but also for his in-laws and sister-in-law. The annual cost of maintaining the household reportedly reaches 4.4 million RMB.

Adding to his burden, Vivi Miao’s younger sister expressed a desire to enter the entertainment industry after graduation. Under pressure from his wife’s family, Zheng Kai used his connections to secure her minor roles in film projects. However, Vivi Miao’s younger sister and her parents allegedly misused Zheng Kai’s finances, including his personal spending card, to cover their expenses—ranging from medical fees and tuition to luxury purchases such as an 82,000 RMB designer handbag. Upon discovering the situation, Zheng Kai reportedly clashed fiercely with his sister-in-law before deciding to block access to his card.

On social media, netizens criticized Vivi Miao’s family for exploiting Zheng Kai, with many joking that he had “married into the entire family” rather than just his wife. They expressed sympathy for the actor, believing his marriage has placed unbearable financial and emotional strain on him. While Zheng Kai has publicly denied claims of being “bled dry” by his in-laws, insiders suggest he is only doing so to protect his image and that of his wife’s family.
Zheng Kai rose to fame through works such as Fleet of Time, Ex-Files, The Great Wall, and Let’s Get Married. He also gained popularity as one-half of the beloved “Friday Couple” with Angelababy in Keep Running. Before marrying Vivi Miao, he was in a three-year relationship with Cheng Xiaoyue.
Meanwhile, Vivi Miao, born in 1998, appeared in projects like Ice Fantasy and Princess Agents. She received wider recognition for her role as Xiao Qi, the loyal assistant of Zhao Liying’s character, in Princess Agents. After her marriage, however, she admitted to being unemployed and has since relied entirely on Zheng Kai’s financial support.
