WINNER leader Kang Seung-yoon marked Korea’s Liberation Day by raising the national flag, the Taegeukgi, on August 15. He shared the image on his official Instagram account, carrying on a tradition that has made him a role model for many fans.
Kang is known for commemorating significant Korean national holidays — not only Liberation Day, but also Independence Movement Day (March 1) and National Foundation Day (October 3) — by posting the Taegeukgi on his official account without fail.
Fans praised his consistency and patriotism, commenting, “Thank you for never forgetting to post”, “A nation that forgets its history has no future” and “You’re truly admirable.” GOT7 leader Jay B also joined the tribute, posting the Taegeukgi along with the words, “Thank you, thank you.”

Kang Seung-yoon, who enlisted in the army on June 20, 2023, served faithfully in the 6th Infantry Division and was honorably discharged on December 19, 2024. Beyond his service, he has demonstrated generosity through multiple charitable acts. On July 19, he donated 12 million KRW to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to support flood victims. He had previously donated 50 million KRW during the 2022 floods and contributed 10 million KRW in 2023.
Most recently, WINNER successfully held their solo concert “IN OUR CIRCLE” from July 25 to 27 at Olympic Hall in Seoul. During the event, Kang unveiled his unreleased solo track “Homeless” for the first time. The official audio is expected to be included in his new solo album slated for release later this year.
