The production of the Hollywood movie “Tsunami LA”, which was expected to star actor Kang Dong-won, has fallen through.
According to OSEN on July 13th, it was belatedly confirmed that “Tsunami LA” project, which was earlier reported as Kang Dong-won’s Hollywood debut movie, had been canceled. This happened when the project had reached the filming stage.
“Tsunami LA”(directed by Simon West, distributed by J&C Media Group) is a disaster action film based on the story of Los Angeles getting hit by the strongest tsunami in history. Kang Dong-won was offered the role of a suffer who works at an aquarium.
Simon West, who directed numerous famous films, such as “Con Air” (1997), “The General’s Daughter” (1999), “Tomb Raider” (2001), “The Expendables 2” (2012), “Stolen” (2013), “Wild Card” (2015), “Gun Shy” (2017), took the megaphone for “Tsunami LA”. The script was written by Scott Windhauser.
Kang Dong-won has been preparing for the crank-in of “Tsunami LA” in Europe since April 2018 after completing the filming for Kim Ji-woon’s “Illang: The Wolf Brigade” in February of the same year.
Kang Dong-won practiced surfing and spent the past 2-3 years learning English in foreign countries to prepare for his role, but the movie has fallen through due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
