K-pop Girl Group Fans Riot as 200+ Female Idols Found in Deepfake Porn

Recently, media outlet the Wall Street Journal reported that South Korea is the country most affected by deepfake sexual crimes. In particular, the news site pointed out that over half of deepfake videos on porn sites are of female Korean celebrities

Following this, posts raising awareness about deepfake sites featuring female K-pop idols start to make waves across the net, with some sites even having specific categories for over 200 female idols, including those who are minors.

In fact, some sites even show a heavy focus on younger idols NewJeans and IVE members, with thousands of videos made about each idol every month.

Upon seeing this, many fans have started to petition for the agencies of these idols to take legal actions, while others express concerns and spread around methods to report the deepfake sites.

So far, various hashtags demanding companies to protect the female idols, including ##YG_PROTECT_BLACKPINK, #JYP_PROTECT_TWICE, #JYP_PROTECT_NMIXX, #JYP_PROTECT_ITZY, #ADOR_PROTECT_NEWJEANS, #STARSHIP_PROTECT_IVE, #SM_PROTECT_AESPA, #YG_PROTECT_BABYMONSTER, #SOURCEMUSIC_PROTECT_LESSERAFIM, and #BELIFTPROTECTILLIT#CUBE_PROTECT_GIDLE, are trending on the SNS platform X (formerly Twitter).
